I learned about the answer to the driving question: why our generation will experience a reduced lifespan. This typically isn’t supposed to happen. With each generation, newer technologies, advanced medication, and increased availability of food, we should have been expected to outlive our parents by several years. However, while largely complex and non-addressable in multiple aspects, this negative change is mostly due to rising rates of obesity. Based on this idea, we learned how best to address an epidemic affecting a diverse group of people across the country. Our campaign places focus on raising public support for healthier eating to fund its implementation. Over time, an apple can be as cheap as a burger. I also learned about reasons why poverty and obesity are so tightly linked. Our team develops a strategy that dissolves this link and allows families of lower income access to healthy meals.
