If you think you have an STD, the first step is to get tested. Even if you don’t think you have an STD, you should get tested anyway because some don’t show symptoms for a period of time. If your results are positive, don’t be embarrassed and refuse treatment. Make an appointment with your local Health Center. National HIV and STD Testing Resources can help you locate a testing center near you.

Certain infections are treatable, for example antibiotics can treat bacterial STDs. You should be examined by a health professional, NOT trying to diagnose yourself so you can determine if your infection is treatable or not. Avoid sexual activity until you are cured. Subsequently, make sure you don’t repeat the same mistake. Getting cured once doesn’t mean you are immune to it.
